Description
In many temples across Japan, you buy your fortune written on a piece of paper...in order for that fortune to come true, you tie the fortune on these racks of string as can be seen in this photograph.
Me trying to be all professional, I took out my camera and then switched to macro and took a picture of this particular piece of paper tied to the string.
Temples in Japan also have plaques and other sorts of pieces of wood/paper which one can write their wishes on and then tie to racks like these in hopes of them coming true.
As a Muslim, I didn't participate in these rituals (apart from buying a plaque for my room from Kyoto because it was nice!), but seeing the rituals was interesting and a great experience into another culture other than my own
